The Chilliwack School District Summer Learning 2009 Program takes place from July 6 to 31 at Vedder Middle School.

There are two days remaining for registering students in Grades 1 through 9:

Registration takes place at the Chilliwack School District Office, which is located at 8430 Cessna Drive (directly across from the Chilliwack Airport). All programs are free for B.C. residents in Grades 1-9.  Non-residents of BC and International students pay $400.00 per course.

Make a Future

Effective April 1, 2009, all teaching vacancies will be posted through the Make a Future website at www.makeafuture.ca

Teachers employed by Chilliwack School District who wish to apply as an internal candidate on teaching vacancies after April 1st are required to do so using the Make a Future internal application system.

To be approved as an internal candidate:

  • Register as an internal applicant through Make a Future
  • Create an electronic portfolio which includes uploaded documents (cover letter & resume) and scanned documents (teaching report and transcripts)

For instructions regarding how to register, create an e-portfolio, and apply on vacancies, go to softwaretraining.sd33.bc.ca or speak with your principal about the DVD tutorial which has been sent to your school.

Locating and Applying on Internal Job Postings

Once registered as an internal candidate, you must follow these instructions in order to view and apply on internal teaching vacancies through the Make a Future website:

  • Log into your account through the Make a Future website at www.makeafuture.ca
  • Locate the heading Internal Applicants on the left hand side of the screen.
  • Click on View Internal Job Postings under Internal Applicants in order to view internal teaching vacancies for SD 33 – you can sort and print the list of active postings.
  • Click Yes at the bottom of the screen to be e-mailed when HR posts vacancies
  • To view more details on a posting, click on its position/subject name (listed in green)
  • To apply, follow the instructions on the screen
  • Before submitting your application electronically, please ensure you have checked that your seniority band is correct as of the date and time that the posting will close
  • An e-mail will be sent to you confirming that you have successfully applied

Human Resources will continue to send electronic copies of all posted teaching vacancies to schools; hard copies of postings should be displayed in the staff room or teacher prep room.
