
The Board of Education is pleased to announce that Mr. Ray Velestuk has been appointed to the position of Secretary Treasurer for Chilliwack School District effective September 1, 2008.
Mr. Velestuk will be joining the Chilliwack School District from the Mission School District where he is currently the Secretary Treasurer. He has served the Mission School District for 4 years and previously he was the Secretary Treasurer in the Yorkton School Division in Saskatchewan.
Ray has a Certificate in Local Government Administration from the University of Regina and a Diploma of Applied Arts in Accountancy from the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology. He is in the process of completing a Bachelor of Administration.
Superintendent Corinne McCabe joins the Board in welcoming Mr. Velestuk. "We are pleased that Ray has accepted this leadership position. He will provide strong leadership to the Operations division of our District and his expertise will complement the executive team."
Board Chair Doug McKay, on behalf of the Chilliwack Board of Education, recognized the three Kiwanis Clubs for the long term support of public education in Chilliwack and presented them each with a Partners in Learning Award.

The Sardis, Chilliwack, and Golden K clubs have been supporting schools for more than 20 years. They provide much needed food programs, a number of literacy initiatives including the famous SUPER READER program as well as scholarship and bursaries for graduating students. A special thank-you and congratulations to the Kiwanis Clubs for being Partners in Learning.

Reduce, Reuse & Recycle! Special thanks to Mrs. Dueck for coming up with the idea for the earth friendly installation piece. This has been a tremendous experience raising the student’s level of social responsibility. All the materials have been recycled!

The Board of Education met at Yarrow Community School on April 22nd. Students demonstrated the Comic Life application using their new Mac laptops.
