District Staff Email
Email System Upgrade
The district email system received a major upgrade over the summer and there are a few changes to how you access your
email. Chilliwack Secondary and Sardis Secondary staff now need to select their respective mail server from the list
below, while all other district staff can choose the "All other sites" option. See the bottom of this page for more
information on how to log in, where/how to get help, etc.
Choose which email server to connect to...
Questions & Answers:
- How do I log in?
On the new email servers, use the same username and password that you log into your district computer with,
however, you also have to prefix your username with your network domain. As such, your username needs to be entered in
the format DOMAIN\first_last. Select your domain from the list below:
| If you're from... | Use... |
| Chilliwack Secondary | css |
| GW Graham | gwg |
| Sardis Secondary | sss |
| AD Rundle | adr |
| Chilliwack Middle | cms |
| Rosedale Middle | rms |
| Mt Slesse Middle | msms |
| Vedder Middle | vms |
| All Elementaries | elem |
| Admin (SBO), Maint, Trans. | mgmt |
| Student Services | ssc |
| Kipp Centre | kipp |
| Education Centre | edctr |
| CHANCE Alternate | chance |
So... if your name is Bob Smith and you work at Rosedale Middle, you'd enter rms\bob_smith as your username.
- Why does the login screen have options for "This is a public or shared computer" and "This is a private
computer"?
The "Public/Shared" option should be used on computers that aren't your primary workstation or one that other people may
have easy access to. I.e. your home computer, a classroom computer where students might have access, an Internet Cafe,
etc. This option will automatically log you out after a few minutes of inactivity to help ensure nobody else gains
access to your email account.
Use the "Private" option if you're sure nobody else has easy access to your computer in case you step away for a few
minutes and forget to log out or lock your workstation.
- How can I get more help?
Contact your Lead Tech Teacher, Principal, the technician assigned to your site, or the Tech Department HelpDesk at 604
-792-4357.
- What about the old email server?
Feel free to check the old server to see if any unanswered emails remain that haven't already been transferred/forwarded
to your email account on the new system. (There shouldn't be any, but... there have been a few cases reported.) This
server will remain active for the time-being so that people can check for unreceived messages, old email archives, etc.
If you have any messages that need to be brought over to the new system, simply forward the message to your sd33.net
account (more info below). I.e. if your name is Bob Smith, forward the message to bob_smith@sd33.net and the message
will be sent to your email account on the new system.
Note: No new email will be delivered to this old system. Also, do not use this old system to create new email or
reply to existing messages. Any messages you send from this old system will likely never be received (other than if
sending to yourself as described above).
- What is the difference between @sd33.bc.ca and @sd33.net email addresses?
There is no difference. Every district staff member can be emailed at either address - and the message immediately ends
up in the same Inbox. The sd33.net email domain was created to assist us through the transition and to allow us to
forward email from the old system to the new (see the previous bullet).
Note: The @sd33.bc.ca has been, and will remain, the district standard and the @sd33.net address may eventually
"disappear".
